Seminar on Good Governance of Sports Federations Opens in Nigeria
A two-day seminar on the good governance of sports federations opened today, aimed at strengthening the management and administration of sports bodies across Nigeria.
The opening ceremony was led by the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko. He was joined by the President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, Engr. Habu Ahmed Gumel, and the Director-General of the Commission, Olopade.
Also in attendance was international expert Dr. Ronald Rukare, President of Commonwealth Sport and a MEMOS instructor in governance and sports management. He is expected to guide participants through best practices in running sports organisations.
The seminar seeks to equip federation leaders with the knowledge and skills needed for transparent, accountable and effective management. Organisers say stronger governance is key to improving the development and performance of sports in the country.
Delegates from sports federations across Nigeria are attending the two-day programme, which is expected to feature presentations and discussions on governance and sports management.
