Team Nigeria has recorded its first gold medal at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, courtesy of a record-breaking performance by Esther Nworgu in the women’s lightweight para powerlifting event. Delivering a brilliant display of strength and technique, Nworgu achieved a Games-record score of 119 points (123 kg lift) to claim the top spot on the podium.
