GLASGOW, SCOTLAND — Team Nigeria’s weightlifting team produced another iconic moment at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games as star lifter Onome Omolola Didih delivered a historic performance to capture the Gold Medalin the Women’s 53kg category.
Dominating the event from start to finish, Didih rewrote the record books by establishing three new Commonwealth Games and Commonwealth records across all categories. She opened her campaign with a magnificent 93kg lift in the Snatch. She carried that momentum into the Clean & Jerk, lifting 113kg to secure an untouchable combined total of 206kg.
India’s Gyaneshwari Yadav took silver with a total lift of 199kg, while Rebeka Groulx of Canada claimed bronze with 178kg.
